Radio Solutions deployed their first municipal two-way
radio system which includes state of the art Tait Radio
Communications equipment. The cutting edge radio system
is the most technologically advanced radio system in the
northeast. Radio Solutions developed a radio network
which combines microwave and fiber to connect remote
sites resulting in improved coverage. With the microwave
capability to link to surrounding communities the mesh
network of fire and police radios raised the bar for public
safety communications.
The city of Waltham, Massachusetts recently awarded
Radio Solutions, Inc. the contract for a P25 digital / analog
simulcast public safety radio system. The state of the art
simulcast communications system is one of the first in the
nation to combine both analog and new P25 digital IP
based technologies together on the same network,
increasing interoperability for firefighters, police officers
and dispatchers.
In July of 2007 RSI developed and delivered one of a kind
10-channel two-way radio system with over 350 portable
radios that provide 100% on-campus coverage for the BU
staff operations. The new radio system was delivered on
time and within budget and system installation and
deployment was flawless. The system includes a state of
the art 10-channel voting system with 2 receiver sites
that are linked via microwave. The dispatch center utilizes
three VoIP touch-screen computer dispatch positions.
In 2009 RSI was awarded a $10 Million, 5-year contract by
the US Department of Defense to develop and deliver
highly customized two-way radio communications systems
for the US Navy and the US Army. The bid award
acknowledges our engineering capabilities and ability to
rapidly develop highly customized and effective solutions
for mission-critical applications. We are currently working
on this project and we look forward to grow our
partnership with the US DoD.
Local ordinances are requiring large building owners to
install signal boosters for two-way radio systems. The
ordinances will generally include annual testing with the
owner ultimately being responsible for coverage. Radio
Solutions has come to the market with a cost effective
solution to guarantee that all first responders and business
people can have reliable communications in any building. In
response to growing demand, Radio Solutions will offer
radio system management services to large building owners
which will include annual testing. As more signal boosters
are deployed testing will be important to avoid interference
with surrounding BDA installations.
Radio Solutions, Inc., a leading public safety
communications provider, recently deployed a new
communications system for the town of Hingham. The
Radio Solutions engineered design includes Hingham Fire,
Police, and Municipal Light departments allowing for
seamless interoperability within the town and between
surrounding communities. The Radio Solutions designed
two-way radio system is unique for its ability to share
common antenna sites, equipment shelters and other site
resources. The wireless backbone is shared by all three
departments improving system reliability and resulting in
significant cost savings for the town.

Bridgewater Fire Department recently switched over to
their new communications network significantly improving
radio coverage for firefighters and emergency responders.
Bridgewater firefighters rely heavily on two-way radios to
coordinate rescue efforts and they were experiencing
difficulty when trying to respond to dispatchers. After
careful consideration of a multitude of vendors
Bridgewater's Fire Chief selected a Tait-Radio Solutions
two-way radio system. Delivery of the system was on
time, within budget and with limited funding system
performance has met and exceeded specifications.
The town of Marshfield's fire department as well as the
EOC recently received a state of the art dispatch console
systems to coordinate E911 emergency radio
communications. Marshfield fire department was faced with
the challenge of deploying a high performance dispatch
console within a limited budget. Radio Solutions was able
to provide Marshfield with a Telex IP based dispatch
console to replace their outdated equipment that was
frequently failing and is no longer supported.
Whitman Fire Department has recently received a new
IP-based analog simulcast two-way radio system. The
state of the art communications network increases radio
coverage as Whitman continues to add new residential
buildings in previously unoccupied areas of the town. Many
large building owners are now required to provide sufficient
radio coverage for firefighters inside buildings, a very
costly but necessary part of doing business
Now in their 74th year as an official Fire Department,
Lunenburg Firefighters will be among some of the first in
the nation to have a public safety grade communications
network designed by Radio Solutions, Inc. With the
Assistance to Firefighters Grant money in place, Chief
Scott Glenny and Systems Engineer Admir Surkovic worked
on developing the best two-way radio system possible.
After a thorough analysis of the existing equipment being
used and much planning for the towns future, decisions
were made to upgrade the overall system and still afford
new Tait Radio Communications P25 ready portables.
The RSI designed analog/digital simulcast communications
system is one of the first in the nation to combine both
analog and new P25 digital IP based technologies together
on the same network, increasing interoperability for
firefighters, police officers and dispatchers.
Hull fire department recently switched over to a new IP
based simulcast two-way radio system to fill in weak
coverage areas in town. A number of areas needed
improved radio coverage and due to the unique
topography of the peninsula a single transmit site could
not provide the desired coverage. In addition, reliable
in-building coverage was also specified by the fire
department. To satisfy the very demanding coverage
requirements an RSI-Tait simulcast system was selected
by the town since it was offering the best performance
and most economical design.
Tait Radio Communications is sponsoring a series of
roundtable events to promote greater understanding of
P25 Phase 2. A Radio Solutions, Inc. representative was
present at the discussion which covered topics related to
narrowbanding and migrating to P25 Phase 2.
Police officers in the town of Hull recently combined radio
systems with the fire department to increase coverage,
reliability and interoperability. The new IP simulcast system
will connect with the South Shore Regional Emergency Call
Center (SSRECC) in Hingham, Massachusetts making it one
of the most interoperable two-way radio systems in
Massachusetts.
